Ashokan Pillar - A Timeless Monument

Ashoka, what can I explain to you about this great emperor. My words will not enough to explain his greatness perhaps that's why we give him the title of GREAT.
According to Scholars, there was only 3 emperors in the world who actually deserve the title of GREAT.
Great Alexander, Great Akbar, and Great Ashoka.
There is one similarity amongst them is that they worked for Mankind.
Specially Ashoka, who wanted to send his thoughts to next generation, he wanted to teach them the real meaning and motto of life even after his death and The Pillars of Ashoka are examples of his willingness.
Pillars are standing on Earth from the third century B.C.
They are still giving us messages of Ashoka.
Ashoka knew he could not circulate his messages one generation to another by his voice so he made pillars and wrote his words on them.
Although at that time in Magadh(Ashoka's empire) people prefer woods over the stone for architecture bt Ashoka knew that wood would not survive for long period.
So Ashoka took Greeks strategy of architecture as we know architectures of stone were very popular with Greeks Dynasty.
He made 20 pillars but only some of them have survived.
I am fortunate to visit some of them last year.
It gives you a special feeling when you touch them.
One of them attracted my attention most which were situated in Delhi.
I came to Delhi after seeing Vaishali's pillar.
The thing that makes Delhi's Ashokan pillar special is that its story.
Actually, Pillar of Delhi wasn't originally made in Delhi.
It was transported from Topra to Delhi by the emperor of Tughlak dynasty.
This was Firoj Shah Tughlak who want to give some gift to the public of Delhi empire.
So he ordered to bring this pillar in Delhi.
Pillar was very important so Tughlak decided to the wrapped pillar by cotton which can protect it from damage.
It had stabilized in Firoz Shah Tughlak fort.
When you'll visit there you can see ruins of a moon and star on the top of the pillar which builds by the emperor.
Emperor comes and go but this pillar is still standing there and giving us the messages of Ashoka since 300 B.C.
